History
The history of Voith Paper Brazil started in 1964 with the foundation of Voith S.A. Máquinas e Equipamentos, the first of the group’s production subsidiary installed in the American continent. Voith Group’s CEO at the time, Dr. Hugo Rupf, managed to convince the Voith family to build the factory in Brazil, because the country’s huge water and forest potential showed a promising field for the use of the company’s technological competences: electrical power-generating equipment and paper manufacturing.
Voith Paper Brazil
Until the 50s, paper production in Brazil was incipient, with small machines and use of conventional technology. After the installation of Voith in Brazil, the paper market went on processes of great modification due to the possibility of access to Voith Group-developed modern technologies, what made it possible the increase of production and an improvement in the country-produced paper quality. It has promoted training and specialization for technicians and today it has a competent group of local specialists to attend to the different needs of manufacturers of all types of paper. Voith Paper Brazil’s first supplies were two complete paper machines for local producers : Cocelpa I (in 1969, for the production of kraft paper) and Gretisa II (in 1970, for the production of monolucid paper).
